The Middle East pt. II

I've just about had enough of this. Israel pulls out of Gaza, then rockets are launched FROM Gaza. Israel pulls out of the West Bank, Hamas launches rockets FROM the West Bank. Israel withdraws from southern Lebanon, Hezbollah attacks FROM southern Lebanon. There is a pattern here. The world demands Israel show restraint. Israel shows restraint. Israelis DIE because of restraint.

Now, Israel, like many other nations and people, is fed up with the seemingly free pass being given to terrorist organizations like Hamas and Hezbollah by the world. Eight Israeli soldiers die, two are captured, and immediately the world calls for Israel to show retraint, before Israel had done anything. I'm proud of Israel for taking a stand. My only wish is that the US and Britain would stand firm with them.

The Middle East pt. 1

Will someone please explain to me why there is very little public condemnation of terrorist attacks like the India train bombings, in fact, the media never even reports these people as what they are. They call them freedom fighters, or militants. Let's clear the air people, these folks are ISLAMIC FUNDAMENTALIST TERRORISTS. Pure and simple.

Yet, they are never fully criticized for their actions. But let Israel take offense to two of their own soldiers being captured by Hezbollah, and therefore an Israeli offensive being launched, and people are coming out of the woodwork to condemn Israel.

Let's set our priorities in order...

Commissioner for a Day

I'm going to give you my take on many sports and the ways they can be improved:

Major League Baseball
1. The All Star should NOT count. I heard one analyst say that the winner should determine how the leagues play, example: if the American League wins then the whole of MLB plays with the designated hitter for a year. As novel as that idea is, I don't see it working. Homefield advantage in the World Series shouldn't be determined by an exhibition game, nor should it go back and forth every year. The team with the best record should get homefield, simple as that.
2. The steroid problem is almost overwhelming. I only wish I had more to say on it.

National Football League
1. End Zone celebrations should be applauded, not shunned. If Steve Smith wants to treat the ball like a baby that needs a diaper change, then so be it. I say that celebrations should continue and should only be penalized if they affect the pace of the game. Long celebrations would be subject to penalty, but no fines would ever be dished out for celebrating.
2. The season would be 18 games long and the pre-season would be shortened by two games. This would give the cream more time to rise to the top.

National Basketball Association
1. I could say something about this if I actually watched basketball.

National Hockey League
1. The playoff format is good, but round one should be a best-of-5, not a best-of-7
2. The regular season overtime should last 10 minutes, and then go in to a shootout. I have no quarrel with shootouts determining winners during the regular season, but never during playoffs or championship games.

NASCAR
1. (Yes, I watch NASCAR, sue me!) The Chase for the Cup should take on more of an elimination rule. The tope ten drivers face off over the last ten races. I say that after each race the lowest ranked driver in points is eliminated.

World Cup
1. Scoring. That is all.

There you have it, some things I would change if I could.

Random rants on life

1. So I'm reading Drudge Report the other day (the day Kenneth Lay died) and Drudge has a link to an AP story about the death, and in the third paragraph is a line that reads, "Lay -nicknamed Kenny-boy by President Bush - was 64 at the time of death" or something to that effect. The point being that President Bush should not have even been mentioned in the article, let alone any details of his nickname for Lay. The AP should be ashamed for having to go to such lengths to drag the name of the President through the mud. Just another case of trying to tie Bush to fraudulent big business.

2. The World Cup is over and insomniacs now have to wait another four years for an event as likely to put them to sleep. Italy defeated Fance on penalty kicks, which is quite possibly the lamest excuse for a way to settle a championship that I've ever seen. This is equivalent to reaching game 7 of the World Series and saying "Alright, we're tied at the end of fifteen inning so we'll settle this with a home run derby." Even hockey, that has a shootout during the regular season, shuns such a spectacle during the playoffs, opting for continuous overtime sudden death play until someone wins. The manner in which the World Cup was decided is both cheap and insulting to fans worldwide.

3. I'm glad to see the war on global Islamic terror is still going. Thankfully the cut-and-run Democrats are making such fools of themsleves that the nation is realizing the threat they pose.
